Philanthropy
Newtown Quilters’ Guild reaches out to those who are going through a difficult time by providing the love and warmth of quilts. We hope that our quilts will let their recipients know that they are not forgotten.

![]() Camp Erin
Camp Erin® Philadelphia is a free weekend bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Camp Erin is part of the Eluna network. Newtown Quilters’ Guild donates quilts for the childrens’ beds at the camp. For children, up to about age 11, the minimum size is 50” x 70”. The older children need larger quilts, 60” x 80”. While there is usually a good donation of quilts, suitable for girls, there is a real need for boys’ quilts. Making nongender-specific quilts will work for any child attending camp. |
![]() HomeFront NJ and Neighbors in Need
Newtown Quilters' Guild supports two local organizations dedicated to helping families in need, HomeFront and Neighbor in Need. Based in Lawrenceville, NJ, HomeFront's mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey by harnessing the caring, resources and expertise of the community. “Neighbor In Need" provides short term immediate assistance to those in need in our community by providing groceries and/or meals, gifts for children at Christmas, and help for the homeless. The Guild began providing handmade stockings filled with essential toiletries for families identified through these organizations during the winter holidays of 2018. This is now an annual Guild program. |
Quilts for Kids
![]() Quilts for Kids is a nonprofit organization headquartered right here in Bucks County, PA.
Quilts for Kids is dedicated to transforming fabrics into patchwork quilts to comfort children facing serious illness, trauma, abuse, and natural disasters. Quilt sizes needed are approximately 38-40" X 45”–46”. By far our most popular program, Newtown Quilters made and donated more than 183 quilts to this program in 2022 alone. We will be hosting a Spring Open House at the Bucks County Quilts for Kids on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Our previous open house, in November 2022 resulted in accepting donations of quilts for the holiday "Shop with a Cop" national philanthropy project. A whopping 167 quilts were donated on this day, including quilts from our guild members. |
Patriot Program Quilts at Capital Health NJ
|
Every baby born to a military family at Capital Health is gifted with either a quilt or a knitted or crocheted blanket, some of which are made by our Guild.
Quilt size requirements are flexible: 36”x36”, 30”x36” are used for NICU babies. "Quilts for Kids" sizes also work well. Quilts are made with red, white, and blue fabrics which can, but don't need to be, patriotic fabrics. Quilts should be washed before donating. |
Our members also make donations to many other local and national organizations.
